It's him and a very nice example. Not an easy emperor to find, and when you do they aren't usually in this nice of a condition. I've not ever come across one so I haven't researched there value. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see it go for at least $100.

Seems that some tooling might have been done, but is there any other emperor who has the gate reverse and an inscription of DNxxV? The "V" certainly looks okay, so there might have been some minor improvement work been done but otherwise it seems to fit him.

I don't see any signs of tooling or BD, could be the lighting.
IMO, a perfectly genuine example. Reputable dealers charge a premium for Flavius Victor camp gates. I wouldn't offer more than $120 for this example but most dealers will be asking 150 or more for an example in this condition.
As far as the mint, I would say the style looks like Aquiliae to me, maybe SMAQ in exergue but hard to be sure without seeing coin in hand

this guy is out of my price range, or the range I'm willing to pay for these coins anyway.
but it looks ok to me as well.

So what is the consensus about it being tooled ?

Aug, I dont think this specimen has been tooled. Generally if the coin is tooled a dead give away is a deep trench between the letters of the legend and the fields between letters will be of less elevation than the fields of the coin. In some cases that might be ok. Tooling usually involves the "artificial" improvement of the details, I don't see that on this coin. Your coins patina appears to be intact and has not been "cut into." I would say its a decent untooled example. Becareful there is a fine line between cleaning and tooling and eventually ruining. This is not tooled, but nicely cleaned. IMHO.

Very good news to hear Echizento. Seller said he would go down to $160.

Nice coin. Looks original to me with most of the obverse legend clear.

Definitely a quality coin of him and while $160 is not a bargain it is not out of line either.
