I've been eying the note for a while now, and if memory serves, the current prices for them are lower than they were a year ago.

However, regarding the prefixes, does anyone know if the Aa prefix is indeed the replacement prefix? Or is it just a "rumor" that has become "fact"?

Which raises the question (since I cannot find any information about it anywhere, except regarding the Sochi notes), does Russia even produce replacement notes with different prefixes?

Since, if Russia doesn't, and the prefixes on Sochi don't matter, one note will suffice. But if Russia does, then one of each might work. Or should I just buy all three prefixes and be done with it? (Since I think that'd be right around the cost of buying two individually)

An article I have read states that there were three initial prefixes on the release of this issue AA Aa and aa. So not a replacement.

I've first heard that rumor back in December 2013, actually (when originally trying to buy one of these notes for Secret Santa).
I've never heard of replacement notes having any specific distinguishing feature in Russia, and for that matter I'm not really sure how do Russian note prefixes work in the first place (they seem pretty random).

I suspect that at best they're about as much "replacement" as the 2014-dated 25-ruble Sochi coins (with the non-2014 designs); perhaps the demand for them was so high that more were produced in such a way.
They're definitely not rarer than the other two prefixes (though, at least for a while initially, they were more expensive - perhaps due to that very rumor).
