Not sure how the seller arrived at these bid parameters. $25 shipping, too.

Not too odd if you had noticed the seller is located in Romania and listing his coins on the U. S. ebay site. English is probably not his native language.

Yes I had seen where the auction originated, and my commentary is not at all about the grammar - the starting bid and buy it now price were what caught my attention. Certainly the coin's value is easily researched nowadays, so I just don't see how either figure (although especially the astronomical buy it now) is in anything but the realm of fantasy....

I'm tempted to ask him if he's interested in a business venture.

I'll sell him all the 1921 Morgan's he can afford for only $500 each!

Perhaps in Romania that is what genuine US Morgan dollars sell for. You are assuming that what common date silver dollars are worth here is what they are worth in other countries where the supply is not near what it is here.

That would have been true 20 years ago. Now any coin is just as plentiful anywhere there is an internet connection. Why would I pay more just because I live in Romania? Or wherever? I buy it on line the same as anyone else.

He is either hoping for a moron to buy it or he has done zero research and is just wishing.

Because if what Gyrene was true, that common date Morgan's sold for $1000 a piece in Romania....wow!

I would fly over there with 100 of them and deliver them personally, at a price of only $800 each!

Of course, it's not that U.S. sellers can't also have some lofty expectations for a 1921-S.

See: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-S-MORG..._1477wt_1153

and:

I understand the "few or none finer" rationale here, but as a numismatic investment, these seem pretty iffy to me.
