Nice to see a wood box coin being posted, I hope we can see more.
I agree with Jbuck, very nice coin. It just falls outside my comfort range for buying that coin.
There are so many more coins that can be posted, I hope some other CCF member will join in.
If I have time today, I will set up and take some more pictures

I agree, gents. I don't buy much gold and I fretted about pulling the trigger (pardon the word choice) on this one for quite some time. Happy I did so.

If I had done as you did, I certainly would not have regretted it.

It's definitely not chump change (unless you are one well-to-do chump), but the good news is that when it finally sells out, I should be able to recoup my investment. Heck, even if I only got 75% it would still be worth it to have enjoyed the coin for the time I have/had it. Thanks for starting this thread, GR58. It's been a pleasure reacquainting myself with some of my collection that I usually only see on a tracking spreadsheet.

Just to clarify the gold kennedy box is made of mahogany not oak. I got this from the mint web site.
"The coins are encapsulated and packaged in a single custom-designed, brown mahogany hardwood presentation case with removable coin well and are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity."
Also to add to this thread, when I have time I will have to take a group picture of my silver proof sets that I have. I think GR58 may have already done this for his collection already so it wouldn't be anything new.

Heres a couple from my birth year. Both 1986 sets one prestige and a Liberty Set.I really like the wooden display boxs. That dang Prestige set has gotten worse over the years.

Nice sets, Dar and GR58! And thanks for the wood species correction on the gold Kennedy box, Neo13x. Mahogany was my 2nd guess.
