I am hoping to do the same thing when I get my own place. Looking forward to seeing all the progress you make on this project. Good luck!

I want to build my own room as well, I was told by a contractor friend that if you wanted to make a secure room, you should install plywood behind the drywall. So someone cannot just kick through the drywall. I thought I would share this information for anyone else thinking about a burglar proof room. Solid core door is also a must. All this is quite expensive, but I'm sure it would be less expensive then your collection.

In some remote communities, RCMP satellite offices are actually built to be used as holding cells if needed. They have 1" plywood behind the drywall, window bars and steel doors/steel jams. This is for keeping people in but same idea.

I am always concerned about my coin and bullion security. I have my stuff spread out in the house right now but I am moving everything into a huge 1" thick, oak plywood cabinet. Locked door, locked cabinet, and safe bolted in the cabinet for the good stuff. Hope it works as my dog is old now and offers no protection.
Honestly, stuff is probably safer in plastic totes in the laundry room.

But I like the idea of walking in a small room like that and being able to look at all your coins and not have them here and there or worst have then out where someone like a repair man or visitor to see that might get ideas after they leave.

Iv thought about doing this if I won the lottery because of all the coins I would buy, You must have a big collection. Is there going to be a sign on the Door that says coin room?

If you keep an empty safe in the middle of your living room you can store your coins where ever you want.

True this.
It's fireproof though. I do have coins in other places :)
