Moderators I know this coin is not US but it is an error and as there is no world coin error page I believe it is fitting to post this here. If not however, go ahead and move it to the world coin forum.

Anyway, I picked up these Spanish 5 Peseta coins at my coin shop. The coin on the right appears normal. The one on the left has something funny going on in the region of the sun and on the lower wing near the star. There's also a spot above the sun, it is something stuck in the 2x2 not an actual part of the con. Can you tell me what happened here?

G'day, I'm not familiar with Spanish coins.
The coin on the right, as I look at your post, seems to be the funny one. I'd call it a die crack.
Some people like that sort of thing.

Die crack? The metal near the sun is raised as is the small line near the lower wing. It's not really a crack but maybe some type of metal flow?

That's what it is. A piece of the die broke off, but is still in the proper place. The resulting strike is very weak but still shows dentil details.

Pretty often on business coins but not to often on proof coins.

Umm, actually that's not correct. It is pretty scarce - more scarce than full Cuds.

Yeah, that loose piece of die doesn't stay in place very long with all the rapid coining movement going on.

It gets flung out and every coin after that is a full Cud.

Nice find, Arthrene! That's a keeper!

Sometimes you get lucky!

I was sorting through some loose foreign coin and there were a lot of this coin in there. I had been picking them up just to throw them back in the box. That one just looked a little funny to me. Now if only I could find such a good example in US coinage!
