Does anyone out there do any metal detecting? I took it up a couple of years ago in the states and found it very relaxing, as well as being able to add the odd silver coin to my collection.

Since I've been down here, I hit the beaches a bit, but mostly new stuff, with the exception of 1 x 3d. Oh sure the gold and diamond rings are nice, but I'd like to find some more pre-decimal stuff.

We just moved into a 1930's house in Camberwell. I've looked around under the house a bit and only found an old milk bottle (haven't been able to date it yet). I'm just waiting for it to warm up a bit so I can hit the yard with the detector.

I used to years ago but poor health have kept me close to home these days. Was a bit of fun at the time, found the odd penny but mostly decimal change, watches and millions of pull tabs. Thank goodness those things no longer exist.

The detectors are much more sensitive these days. Would be interesting to see what a good one would find. I see lots of tiny gold nuggets on ebay. I think a lot are found by MD's.
