I find these pretty tough to grade, see how you fare versus NGC. By the way, this coin was the last I needed to finish my 7070. Whew! Nothing left but the upgrades!

Hi HABIB,
It looks like a wholesome, no-problem example which actually saw a good deal of circulation. Wear is pretty obvious and I don't see any remaining luster. My guess is VF-30.

When it comes time to upgrade, it won't be difficult. There are plenty of AU and MS examples out there!

Mine was graded AU-55 by NGC before I cracked it out and I just don't think his has enough detail to warrant a AU grade

Bryan, Dude I think your 1849 Gold Dollar grade of AU-55 is accurate. Trustg me, no lower than 53. What a historic piece. Thanks for sharing pictures.

Take Care
Ben

Thanks for the replies. Maybe it's overgrading, maybe it's bad pictures, but it's in an AU-55 holder. We'll see once it's cracked out. Doesn't really matter if it's a slight overgrade as I got it for $154 so I'll still be pretty pleased. I'm going to be working on pics of the completed album as soon as I go through a few nickels I just received today.

Here it is cracked out:

1852-One-Dollar-Gold

1852-One-Dollar-Gold

It will do nicely and will be near the bottom of the list for upgrading.

I knew it was AU, because the hair has too much details in it. Looks good half bust!

dern, it has allot more detail out of the holder than I could see in it, it even looked like it had a weak strike in the first pictures around the date area. It looks like your camera isn't completely still while you are taking the pictures and its making the pictures a little fuzzy but it definately looks allot better in the cracked out pictures than it did in the first pictures

Yeh, I am a lame old guy with shaky hands and a lack of desire to set up my camera properly.
