the cert appears to be at least partly that is 14k gold but that's about all I can take from it.

thanks for any suggestions on how to identify this coin.

The certificate seems to indicate that it is 35 grams of 14K gold.

It's a commemorative medal for this guy:

That's all I got, sorry. If you're of Slovak descent, it's kind of neat; He's more or less the father of the modern Slovak Republic, although it took another 60 years to emerge from the ashes of the Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact.

Thank you guys for information, it's looking like they didn't make enough of these to have a market for them.

There's a market for it to be sure. It just might take a while to find the right buyer.

I wouldn't mind having it myself since I'm half Slovak. But if it really is gold, it's probably out of my price range.

If you ever get the chance to go to a big coin show, you could take it around and see what the dealers think of it. You never know....

Half Czech and half Ukrainian here and a language buff:

"DO NOT OPEN" -- the certificate warns to this effect.

So, did the medal originally come in some kind of holder?
It can read either as an independent assay ( TPG) or an original certificate of authenticity.
Cannot be sure.

The 'seal/stamp' says Bratislava which is the capital of today's Slovak Republic.

Good Luck!

BONUS!

Grandma and Grandpa were from Bratislava. They came to the US around 1900.

Sorry it's been awhile since I've checked in on this, it's a customers item that he received while in Europe. I work for a dealer (Gary Adkins Associates inc.) and we travel to all major coin shows in the US, but we haven't taken to any shows as he didn't want to leave it with us and really it's just another thing to carry when we travel.

Thank you guys again, and if your ever interested in anything we have for sale let me know, I'll try to reimburse you a little for your efforts.

I just checked out the Gary Adkins site. Wowie! Nice stuff, mostly out of my price range. But, if you're going to the Chicago ANA show, let us know....I'll stop by to say 'Hi'.
