Yep, I would have to agree....Zinc Rot...sad but possibly true...makes a very interesting coin though ! I keep all my pennies that are "fugly" as they are neat under the scope. I would love to scope this one because it totally altered the date. Welcome to CCF and have fun hunting...it's addicting !

The plating was split with a pin or something and made the hole, the air getting to the zinc makes it start to raise and rot.

Cent starting to Rot at this point bummer. Gov the Cents are rotting away.

I am seeing Shields doing the same thing 6 years out. What a waste I will never understand. Copper trades to high to be made into a Cent but hey we will fix that with a Zinc Cent that can just rot and gross out the public,ok that works and we are still wasting money sweet and the whole world will see. The day I find a 1992 D CAM with zinc rot I am going to fall to the floor. Mini rant.
