just wondering was there 2 types of 1978 nickel dollars . I read the book it does not say if there was or not. but one dollar here is missing the island and the marking on the canoe cargo is different. there is some doubling Canada and the canoe.

I will respond to your question from 2012 double die here.

In 1976, I found nothing about no island but in the book Price guide for canadian coins by Blais; no island, small island, and large island are listed for 1978.

thank you numidam. going through a bunch of uncirculated sets finding some doubling and missing islands and I will share a picture of another coin from the nickel dollars. it not right either. share it with you later. have a great one thanks for the help. if I ca find some old pictures I will share them with you of a pressing gang. these are really early days . hand pumping the press. it is a big press H press 8 man gang the press had to side pumps one fast the other slow you had to finish with the slow. that was the only way to complete the press. you had to pump until the bypass value opened have a great one
