I received this 1967 PL Dollar (taken from a PL Set)
I was looking at the coin and saw some extra metal
under magnification with a macro lens and phone.

It looks like Die Deterioration, the serifs are not
right and there is extra metal on the R and A in REGINA.

The letters appear to be distorted. Double struck, likely
Strike Doubling of some sort. With the quantity minted,
would not be surprised if it was Die Deterioration.

Any and all comments welcome.

What's with DDOs popping up all of a sudden?

Your pics are a bit bright SilverDon, but that R looks promising. Maybe try turning the lights down a bit so your camera can focus better?

Have taken some of the DG area and the dot after the G, just a sec. Hope this helps.

Some pictures in lower light.

Beads are not doubled, dot between DG and REGINA is oblong.

These pictures are from a PL-65 ICCS in a plastic flip;
the L in ELIZABETH has the same split serif and looks
repunched. The serif on the N in REGINA is the same
as my first example and the A and N exhibit minor
doubling.

This is the second example with this split serif on the
obverse L among my 2 PL 1967 Silver Dollars, anyone else
see this on their examples.
