Just wondering what I have here. How about some opinions please? What year do you think this is?

Thanks!

i was going to say it is a 44 P but now after looking harder I don't think it is. it is not an error though. it could be a filled die but I can not picture what the date would have been. look at it good under a scope or pick it to see if someone used it to practice for gluing dates or mm on coins. nothing in the 40's are key coins worth more than a few cents so I don't get why anyone would glue dates on one unless for practice for that one big one lol
Good luck with it

I think it's a 1941 with damage.
Something banged into the date and pushed the bottom of second "1" over toward the "4".
In the second pic you can see the "smear" of metal where the bottom of the second "1" was originally located.

I believe this coin has coin-counting machine damage. I have seen a number of coins where the machine pushes the numerals far up (or down) the coin into a metal blob. Sometimes, it can look like it wasn't struck properly.

its a damaged 1941,, could be counting machine damage or just plain old hit hard by another coin or any number of other things.

It is a 1941 and it is about 99% sure to be counting machine damage. The other 1% could be damage caused by some unusual contact with something else.

Thanks,
Bill

Exactly what the four people above me said.

Definitely a 1941, and definitely counting machine damage. Odd that 1941 should be so affected, but I've seen a dozen just like it.
