Here is an interesting coin. Gold colored, with what looks like maybe zinc rot? Usually there is the greenish blue rotting color in the area where the rot occurs. But this one has none. Just holes with mud or grease or somthing packed inside. The obverse and the reverse are separating from one another.

Yeah, let's mint coins from a metal normally used as a sacrificial anode.

I wonder how much the cost would be to give all cents a double coating of copper like they do with all the proof cents? I'd imagine these zincolns would at least last a little longer and mabi withstand the tiniest dings like they cannot now...

Any way you look at it, the coin has had enough hard times. It's earned the right to spend its' remaining days (which look numbered) quietly in a collection. Sealed very tightly.

Or set it free? Not a premium coin. Did you want this one, Dave? I only collect for premium.. personally.

Oh, no, my tongue has been planted firmly in my cheek from the moment I first read the thread.

Seriously, I'm not sure there's a method to preserve a Zlincoln for 100 years save vacuum.

Store it in mineral oil? But why? The oil is probably worth more than the coin.
