Ziggy has launched a mad frenzy for the 1982 small dates. I've found several, and this particular one has some kind of doubling. I'm sure it's a poor man's or Machine Doubling, but please take a look anyway, and let me know what you think..

What I noticed the most was the C and A at the end of America.

Here's a shot of the obverse...

My best guess is 'die wear' doubling. Mechanical in nature.

Might just be the photo but note the lump above the M? S at tend of states is doubled? Second T in states appears fatter than the first one. Odd verticle line (l) maybe in between R & I in America. Strange vertical line on the front edge of the C in America.
Like I said, might just be the photo.

It's not hub doubling. A lot of wierd stuff happened in the early 80s on cents, not all of it I can answer for in any specific way other than to say what it is definitely not - a doubled die.

I have learned that it is NOT a double die, but machine/shelf doubling. Oh well! Thanks for the replies!

You had me worried there for just a second that my coin's uniqueness was going to be very short lived!

I went through about six 7 coin variety sets today, didn't find a thing!
I must have put them together when I was green, I had a couple of large dates where a small date should be!

I have a feeling your uniqueness will always be safe with me!
