NGC MS-63 (62 usually isn't listed) 1888 3CN I'm doing comparative pricing in the different price guides out there. I can't find the latest Gray Sheet and I want to compare all major publications. Except for Red Book (I have that and it's usually outdated) Moved to Ebay/ auctions forum by Metalman Edited by USArmyParatrooper 10/12/2007 01:17 am

Coin Prices doesn't list 62... I need a different price guide it goes ms60 315 and ms65 725... not very helpful. What do you find is the most accurate price guide?

zacharycash, Honestly, I'm trying to figure out what I can get for the coin. I'm selling it to put money toward a different coin. Here's a picture of it. Moderators, I hope you trust I'm just looking for price advice. I'm not trying to sneakily my coin. There's not much luster left on the coin, but it does have nice subtle, pleasing toning IMO. I'd say overall it's about average for the grade.

Sheet: MS60=$225; MS63=$280
I'm guessing that due to lacking luster it's probably worth about $250 to a dealer at most. I could be wrong about that as I normally don't deal in Mint State coins.....EVEN 3CN!
Can you post a picture of the reverse? Is there any hint of rub on the coin?

Prethen, is that the latest ASK for Grey Sheet? I swear I thought I saw $310, but I wasn't sure on my memory. PS, thanks both of you for replying and thanks in advance to any others. I'm considering either setting a BIN, or rolling the dice with a $1 no reserve.

The magazine price lists are pretty useless for these coins. I use real sales from heritage and teletrade for comparison. It's hard to say too accurately what the market will do at any given moment, so I'll give a wide berth at $280-400. Depending on what my expectations were, if I were selling it on ebay and I was wary of the true auction route I think I'd try pricing mid to high of the range ($375?) and take best offers. With my advice you get what you pay for, hope it helps...

That's not a bad idea, half. I think I'll go with that.

I agree with HABIB and that is usually what I do when I am not sure what a coin is actually worth, I will set a BIN a little high (if someone bites its all well and good) and I have the option to submit a best offer to me and if its closer to what I thought it should atleast bring I will usually take the offer. I do let the offer sit there until the last hour it is good for because other buyers can see there is a offer on the table and it may entice someone that wants the coin to hit the BIN or make a better offer, so just because you get a offer don't go ahead and sell it right then, let that offer sit there unanswered for a day or so

I did some editing on the pictures in your listing if you would like to replace them. Here is what I came up with. I think you can see the detail a little better. I hope this helps you out. Also, to be in compliance with the new rules, you should supply a picture of the reverse of the slab.

Prior to going to coin shows I make a list of coins I really want. Seldom works out that the coin I want I get anyway, but I do this: First make a list of coins. Then add columns for prices. Start with the Red Book. Then the PCGS price list. Then a brief check on ebay. Then a few columns of prices from on line dealers such as Millersmint, vtcoins, etc. I used to have a list of about 10 such deaslers and used for price checking. Take all the prices I come up with, add them and then divide by the amount of prices. This is my average price for each coin. At coin shows I look for coins in that average range. Try it for coins such as the one you want to sell. A bit of work but a little fun also.

An offer came almost immediately for $330.00 Since it came so quick I was going to hold out for a higher one. But a few things made me change my mind. 1: I felt the price was fair. Why hold out and hope someone stupidly overpays like I did. I just feel better about myself in the end, even if I lost a few dollars. 2: The offer came the day after I posted it. With a fair offer that comes that quickly, why get greedy and then have to stress over hoping more offers come. 3: They buyer has lots of positive feedback and is a veteran Ebayer. Who knows who else I might have to deal with. So, in the end, I'm happy with my decision. Thanks for all the advice! Here's a link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...SO:IT&ih=002

Good job, I think I would have done the same thing in your shoes. With a quality buyer, you are going to have the $ faster. If you believe in the time value of money, then holding out for $20-30 more isn't really in your best interest. I hope we were able to help in a positive way and I'm really looking forward to seeing your next coin! HABIB
