Hello everyone.

I am a new member here. I am from Pakistan.

Recently my parents gave me a group of coins, one of which I have scanned and attaching here. Is it a barber coin, and is it of some value? Please let me know.

I am totally new to coin collecting, and as I have a full time job, I am unable to study much on it.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone.

Regards

Sethi

Is it a barber coin...

No. The American "Barber" coins are called this because they were designed by someone named Charles Barber. Although the portrait of Liberty on these Swiss coins does somewhat resemble the portrait of Liberty on the American "Barber" dime, quarter and half dollar, no Swiss coins were designed by Mr. Barber.

Not very much, no. Maybe a dollar or two, in this condition.

Swiss coins are interesting because the design is still in use. Some people find them boring - but I like them.

Hi Sethi and to the forum.

As Swamperbob says the Swiss coins have changed very little in design in the last 100+ years. What impresses me is their very high quality and durability. I have a few from the late 19th century and they are in as good condition as late 20th century ones.

Side note:
The use of the Latin 'Helvetia' for Switzerland, which also appeared on stamps, prevented favoring
one of the three official languages: French, German and Italian. Four if you include Romansch, which
is a national language.
I always like the design as well.

Also, Charles Barber's designs resemble the classical European portraits. His father immigrated from England.
He probably learned that tradition from his father.
