Someone's gonna know this one I'm sure - do not collect these but found this in a 'silver lot'.
I don't know if its silver but it looks Japanese? ....a 20 Sen piece from which year?

Geez I have always been bad at the Jap coins. It's between 1901-1905.

Book value is about $20.00 in XF. And if it's a 1901 then book value in XF is $350

.80 Silver .1382 oz ASW

The date on it is Year 26 of the Meiji Emperor - corresponding to 1893 AD. I'd call it gVF. CV $15 in VF, $25 in EF according to the 4th edition (2004) 19th century Krause.

Nice coin, looks EF to me. Krause lists it at $18.50 in EF (new edition)

I'd stick with the books. It's easily accessible like a phone book. The cost is a LOT more but having it at your fingertips is worth it I think.
