What's going on this this one? Looks like it had a grimy life, I don't believe it was ever intentionally cleaned. What do you think of it? For some reason I like it and I'm hanging on to it.

Most probably had something splashed on the surface, reacted for a while before it got removed. Still quite interesting.

If you like, you like it. I like the obverse quite a bit more than the reverse, but that's just me. Enjoy it! I have some coins that others would consider very worn junk but I feel are "nicely worn." What can I say? I like what I like!

Hi Thad

The coin easily has EF-45 details ,, corroded ,, which forces a net grade ,, IMHO VF-20 or 25 still bearing the corroded descriptor.

Keeping in mind of course that NGC nor PCGS would slab it based on the environmental damage .

Its still an attractive cent in a used sort of way .

Well if you would like SGS's opinion, it would probably be MS 70!! hahahaha (Just kidding)

But seriuosly it is a very nice coin and it pretty attractive in my opinion. As long as you are happy with it.... that's all that matters.

Congrats on the great find!

I too like that coin. Sure wish it could talk and say how it got that way. Actually in great condition considering what it looks like at first. Lots of details. Almost looks like something the cat dragged in.

Thanks everyone, especially Metalman, for your opinions. Odd how such a grimy cent and can actually have some appeal.
