A few years back, I purchased the rolls from the mint for my home state, Indiana. These are the only State Quarter rolls I've purchased, and the rolls are unopened.

Has anyone opened enough State Quarter rolls from the mint to have a good guess what the condition of most of the coins is? Obviously, they could be anything, but is it likely they are mostly MS-63, MS-65, MS-67, MS-60, or something else? Is it likely that they are all within a couple points of each other, or more likely that there is a large variety of MS grades in the roll?

I would say that they are ranging from MS 65 to MS 70. If this is a GEM BU roll from the U.S. Mint, they should all be within 2 points of each other +/-

I disagree. I've seen many coins in mint sets that are not "GEM BU". Many coins leave the mint in MS60-MS63 Range.

I've found better ones in the OBW rolls, than anything special from the mint rolls. In fact I bought a box of 100 quarters from the mint. Worse lot I've ever seen. See like all of the postmen used the box as a tambourine. Pretty well circulated for an uncirculated box. so I would stay away from them. Stick to the local OBW rolls from you local bank. A lot better priced.

Leave them wrapped.

If you want high grade coins ..search the mint sets.
Coined rolls are never 69/70 and mostly 65/66.

Mint wrapped rolls, and bank wrapped rolls all come from the same place a contractor the mint pays to roll all coins. There is no special treatment given to mint rolls you only pay more because of the wrapper it comes in.

I would expect them to typically be from MS-62 to 64.
