Somewhere I read a post that the approximate prices of the 1995 Double Die Lincoln Cent in MS grades was about $20 or $25 at best.
Today, October 14, 2007 I attended a coin show at a place called Countryside, Il. Not exactly sure how many dealers but guess about 80 or more. I asked almost every one if they had a 1995 Double Die Lincoln Cent and how much would it cost. Seven did and the prices, AFTER price negotiations, were for MS-62 to MS-65 from $40 to $100.
I mentioned to one dealer what was posted on these coin forums and he said if anyone can supply them in that grade for $20, he would buy all they can produce.
Now I can't find that post but sure would like to and buy many, many of them for $20 each in MS-65.

Chuck: Your 100% wrong with that statement I have great respect for your opinions and advice. I also have two of your books so why would I want to prove you wrong. Just the oposite. If, in reality, you or anyone can produce these 1995 Double Die Lincoln Cents in MS-65 grades for $20, I now have a person that will buy all I can deliver. No intension of proving anyone wrong. Just a fact of life that coin prices, like all else on Earth, are dependant on location for many items. When I saw that post about $20 prices and on my way to a coin show today, thought there might be some fast monitary gains. The dealer I was talking to stated he could sell them for at least triple that.
Like I said Chuck, your misunderstanding my motives. I'm sure if you were in this area of Chicago and saw the prices of coins, you too would want to jump on the opertunaty to make a fast, large profit.
No need to prove or disprove anything anyone says about anything. If I can make a massive profit for so little investment, why not?

OKAY...so the are worth more than $20-$25 in 65. That's a typical price for a "BU" coin that's raw, which generally grade 63-64. I was buying them for $10-$20 two years ago, and had 13 in stock at one time. Right now I have two, and one of them (MS66RD) sold for $50 today. I still have another.

The slabbed prices for these have remained completely steady for years now. MS67 for around $80, MS68 for around $100.

Using some basic math, and figuring ANY example to be worth at least $10, it should be as follows:

AU - $10
MS60 - $12
MS63 - $20
MS65 - $50
MS66 - $65
MS67 - $80
MS68 - $100

Is that better?

Just happens that these prices are very close to what I already had published on my website, so there's no real change other than to say I made a mistake and was wrong in quoting $20-$25 for MS65 to one person one time on this board. People do make mistakes, and there's no reason to come after them for it.

And yes, from the original post on this thread, it seems that you went to a show and did your homework JUST to prove me wrong.

I can say this much. The 1995 doubled die is but ONE of over 2,000 different die varieties I try to keep up with in this market. I have to know all of them and I have to know how to price all of them. The 1995 doubled die is excessively common for what it is, and the prices are a reflection of the generalist market which doesn't really know squat about die variety pricing or rarity.

So I get one wrong once in a while...sorry.

As I stated. I have great respect for your knowledge and work with coins. I did not go anywhere attempting to do anything except see if I could make a large profit on something and verify the values. Naturally prices vary everywhere on everything. I basically know prices of coins here but am ignorant of everywhere else. I didn't want to offend you, only wanted to verify our price stucture and make a profit if possible.
I reacted due to the 95 Double Die has been such a fast rise in prices for no apparent reason here. I have one in each of my ten sets. It is hardly noticable yet has been increasing in value faster than most Lincoln Cents. If slabbed at even MS-64 or 5 would be about $100 and a higher grade more. They are selling fast even at those prices.
