The flags are of old China, dating from the founding of the Republic. I've found Wikipedia to be an excellent reference for obsolete flags.

The five-striped one is the "five races together" flag; each stripe represents one of the major Chinese ethnic groups: Han, Manchu, Mongol, Uighur and Tibetan. This was the official flag of the Republic from 1912 to 1928.

The 9-pointed star banner was first raised at the Wuchang Uprising, the beginning of the rebellion against the Empire that eventually founded the Republic. It subsequently became the flag of the Chinese Army.
