magusxxx Valued Member United States 306 Posts	Posted 10/16/2007 6:58 pm I didn't realize this could be a VAM until a friend pointed it out. He saw that there is slightly extra metal above the 9 in the date. Unfortunately, I can't get a good picture of that part of the coin. But there are other interesting things about this coin. On the back, You'll notice a line break above the TE and an extremely obvious chip on the letter S. I went to VAMWorld but I couldn't find it matching anything. Report this Post to the Staff

Becky Pillar of the Community United States 954 Posts	Posted 10/16/2007 7:56 pm The good news, it is a VAM. But all Morgan and Peace dollars are VAMs, it's just a die marriage. Check the mm for the O/CC. The S looks like post mint damage, and the TE is too small of a crack to be a VAM. It is tough to attribute because of the state of preservation. I could find no trace of the CC, but that could be behind the black stuff on the coin. As for the S, it does not look like it's post-mint damage. If you saw the coin in person it looks like the die had problems and somehow the metal smeared upward. A friend who helped me figure out my camera said the image looked Photoshoped, but he could attest to the fact that it wasn't. Report this Post to the Staff
