I think I have a Judean 1 Lepton here. Not exactly sure, I pulled it out of a junk lot.

It does look like one. That's a nice find in a junk bin.

Looks like a Judean Lepton to me, too, and a nice one at that.

I'm more confused after reading this: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/Nu...idows%20Mite

Quality control was apparently not on the high list for these. It seems evident that even though the Jews were independent during the Hasmonean dynasty, they were no where near the level they were during the United Monarchy under David and Solomon.

I am thinking the attribution is Hendin 1153. There is no Greek date around the anchor, no legends and rather crude. Which I think aligns with Greek Coins and Their Values #6092.

Can anyone comment on the attribution? Thanks.

As long as they were loyal to the descendants of Romulus and Remus it's all good!
The Jews were just a small kingdom that was nowhere near the Seleucids. So it's amazing they were able to strike coins at all. You have a nicer example of this type. Congrats!

I guess it was worth the $2.50 I paid for it.
