I think JM Bullion is missing out on potential buyers by instituting a $100 minimum order. I'm just a casual buyer/collector. My budget usually don't allow that much so I tend to only get 1 or 2 coins at a time. It does look like that have decent prices. I am unable to even check out if there isn't at least $100 in my cart. It is too bad really.

I hear what you are saying, but the $100 minimum kind of makes sense. The shipping is free to us, but they have to absorb the cost. Since the margins on precious metals aren't as high as some other industries, if theyshipped even the smallest orders free, they would be taking a loss on them. I know what you mean about just wanting one or two, though. I've held off on buying one that I wanted until enough other stuff I wanted was in their inventory to make it to the $100 limit. Of course the original coin was gone then. Because of that kind of situation, I still haven't yet ordered from them. Maybe if they expanded their product offerings, they could get more of us to buy. I understand their business reasons for the $100 limit, but it does seem to alienate some potential customers.

True, but they do boost their premium to cover the costs of shipping with the 100 dollar minimum as well.

@TheForce,I would have said save then buy but you are a casual buyer. Being a casual buyer of silver and you will only spend under a $100 you do not get to make or really wish for the call. Go to the LCS if you have one.
Based on Only: Online Dealers-
You need a $100 saved to get the most bang for your bucks for just the start. Watch for sales/market etc.
Other then that just buy casual at Silvertowne get their Mint Rounds/Bars best you can do being a casual buyer/under $100 with free shipping. I do it at times. Right now you will pay over $3.00 0ver spot for 1oz/3oz is better by about a dollar I think. This is why people just go to the LCS for 1oz or so.
The On-line dealers, well some will just plain fail in the next few years. Few new ones will come in the game as Silver loses over the next few years. Those you wish would do this and that now will be underwater and no longer on-line but a new fish or 2 will.
Maybe then when silver is so weak and limping along for new buyers. New On-Line Dealer will be more interested in the Casual Silver Buyer with little to about a cheese burger worth of fiat for silver.

I aim it right at $100 mark.. A couple of weeks ago 2 x 2015 ASE, 2 x 2015 maple and 1 x sunshine round = approx 100.35 .... Fast shipping as well. Do you have any friends that collect? Split an order.

I know generic bullion is a bit cheaper but I'd rather have bullion that is backed by a government. Being just a casual buyer/collector I don't need multiple coins of the same design. Not looking to get rich. Just want to own some physical silver.

You also need to consider the human cost of packing an order. If it's just a $30 sale, I'msure it takes at least 5 minutes to pack it, label it, and send it. If someone is making $20 per hour (which is what a $14 employee costs), that's almost $2 in labor. Add packing materials, utilities, etc, and the cost is probably $4, add another buck or two for their cost to ship, and you are at $5-6 dollars. Now take a $100 order, it may take another minute or two to pack, an extra dollar on shipping, but other variables are the same. $6 to handle, pack and ship that order provides some profit(ability) for the merchant.
I've used JM and like to know they ship pretty quick and I get what I ordered.

I'm not sure about JM Bullion but APMEX, Provident, MCM, Bullion Exchange and few others reputable bullion dealers sell also on ebay, you can buy there single coin from them and usually shipping is free.

But he will pay for it. He goes to ebay he is going to pay 2-5 dollars more for the Silver Coin or 2. Telling you there is no way out. You want Silver Coins then buy over $100,your not getting around it for Silver Coins.

He clearly said that his budget won't allow him to spend $100, so your advice is not gonna help him much. Is he gonna pay more per coin on ebay ? Yes, usually he will pay more, but he will get free shipping where buying directly from website he will have to pay around $7 for shipping unless he is gonna spend $100 which he can't. But some of the coins he can often get at the same price or slightly cheaper at ebay. This is especially true with APMEX and MCM, they sometimes have some of their coins cheaper at their ebay stores than at their website.

He said usually. Being he said that, then I have stated best way is with $100 or more otherwise buy from Silvertowne. Silvertowne Rounds and Bars they are cheaper then ebay. Now he does not want even Silvertowne. I am just telling him the best way to spend his buck as few as they maybe for Silver. Silvertowne is not Generic far from Generic .999 Silver. No such thing as Generic, now badly struck rounds yes, silver struck by privily own mints that nobody cares about sure but no such thing as Generic Silver. Why would you be able to check out with a order less then a $100 dollars when you know you have to buy a $100 to order. Which is nothing really.

I only have 5 bullion coins, bought 3 last year and 2 this year so far. Might get one or two more this year. I don't have a lot of discretionary income. I am just a cashier in a supermarket. I do have other priorities. I know you get a better deal buying in bulk but that isn't an option. As for free shipping on MCM and APMEX (Which I have used both), it's not really free. They just incorporate the shipping costs into the price. Why else would they charge $7-$8 more than spot? Sure there is a slight mark-up but I'm sure some of that is shipping costs too.

If someone is charging $7-$8 above spot and giving you "free shipping", then all they are doing is incorporating the shipping cost in the price and making you think you are getting a deal... Now if they are only a couple of bucks above spot and giving you free shipping then they are probably giving you "free shipping"...

"Free shipping" means nothing, it is the overall cost that matters and buying one or two coins cheaply is difficult. But it can be done if you watch closely.
