1854 Large Cent Opinions

I recently aquired this 1854 Large Cent in a partial DANSCO album I purchased.
At first glance I almost threw it in my cull bucket but on closer inspection something just isn't right with this coin.

Call me crazy, but to me, the coin has several markers of a MS coin, with full rims and clean edges, but appears to have been Struck Through Grease and or cloth with a severely damaged obverse die!

The reverse was clearly Struck Through Grease on the upper half of the coin (U STATES O A).

There is also obvious evidence of clashed die impressions on areas of the obverse that I am unable to capture in the photos.

It's propbably just a PMD cull, but I thought I would put it on here for confirmation.

Any thoughts or opinions on this coin would be greatly appreciated!!

My first impression is that it's been through a fire.

Maybe a carpenters or construction workers pocket piece? Looks like tool marks and sand paper marks. But I think it might have been in a fire.

Cleaned, whizzed, and scratched. I see nothing that would make me think MS.

A fire, as many of you have mentioned, would explain pretty much everything except for the scratches.
So I'll have to agree with Condor 101, I think this coin was involved in some type of fire, ending up charred and crusty, then somebody cleaned it, whizzed it and shined it up like a new, old penny and it somehow got mutilated along the way!
