I've been a serious collector for about 7 or 8 years, but I first collected coins when I was a kid, over 50 years ago. I only voted for the 5 year category though.

About 37,38 years now. Not too seriously at first, But I do remember what got me into collecting coins seriously.

Started when I was 10,35 years ago.Went threw my fathers pockets each night. Taped my first Lincoln set to cardboard, first coin I bought at that age was a Fine,1911 s Barber half dollar, proceeded to clean it up with ,maby, ammonia.Soon it changed to a VG, I wore the liberty right off. earliest memories of coin collecting. |

Serious collecting in 1956.
Prior to that, I had a small collection of foreign coins starting back in the late 1940's.

Started studying coins in late 1966 when I was five. Began collecting coins in Feb of 1972 when I was eleven and I have been collecting continously since that time so 35 years collecting and 41 years as a numismatist.
