The lines look too crisp to be a RPM with the VLDS die state when the coin was struck. (Note the heavy flow lines and the outside edge of the mint mark. I would hang on to if for now will we know more.

Thanks Coop. My initial thought was that it was too light on the detail but because of the die state, it had me guessing. I'm not seeing anything on the vertical bar of the D either to give me anything concrete.

Celtic - I cheated of course. I hold my iPhone lense to one of the oculars of my new microscope. 20x magnification with a touch of zoom on the camera phone. Crop the photo later with a bit of contrast and we get a pretty good picture. Thank you for the nice words!
