I'm heading to Vegas in a few months for a few days of work and I thought about gambling a little and then heading up to the cashier window and ask for a few straps, so I can look through for old currency or just star notes, cool serial numbers, etc.

Has anyone done this or has any advice?
Thanks,
David

Do casinos even use tokens anymore?
Would I ask to see if they have tokens?

Unless you are cashing in chips, the cashiers would unlikely give you cash. Plus any special requests would be frowned upon as they need to get people through there without unnecessary delays. They are not a bank.

You can always just get cash from the ticket machines (put some money in a slot machine, cash out, then put ticket in machine to get "new" cash without having to pay an ATM fee or bother the cashiers). Most such machines will also pay out $100 bills in casinos (most of the regular ATMs do, too).

You probably won't want to do this too much (without playing the slots), as it could look like you are laundering money or something similar.

You should be able to walk up any casino cage window and exchange a "C" note for 100 one dollar bills. If they ask anything you tell them you need it for tip money.

Don't be a pain though and keep going back every 15 minutes asking to exchange the ones you looked through for other ones.

Most LV casinos on the Strip and downtown now have ticket in/ticket out machines and the tickets can be redeemed at the cage or at stand alone kiosks. Tables still pay out in chips which have to be exchanged at the cage. Some casinos still have "Silver Strike" machines but the 10$ silver strikes are plated now.

The last casino special silver tokens I got were from the old Lady Luck Casino right before it closed. They were selling $5 silver tokens that were about the size of a half dollar ... For $5!

Why harass the casino's? Just go to your bank and ask for one's, then spend those at the casino...

Good luck BTW...
