Looks like normal VLDS large date die struck your coin. The location of the mint mark is also a good clue for doubled dies on Denver coins because of the mint mark location. The devices this year were wider, but the 1982D-1DO-002's devices are even larger.

The overall sizes may not match, but you can see what is going on with this die compared with a normal one.

Some additional close up pictures under better lighting would possibly reveal to others what I think I already see.
The first picture of the entire obverse is the only picture that is captured with adequately focused lighting for diagnostics, but it lacks the depth needed to enlarge it without immediate pixelation.
You almost had it in the first pic of WE but then it went out of white balance.
You don't need more light, just try to reflect a single light source off of the coin and away from the camera lens so you can focus clearly on the coin without upsetting the white balance from glare.

google axial lighting for photography. I made one out of a nickel box with a small picture frame glass, no cloth required. there are no shadows, only lights and darks from reliefs. having issue with uploading though, I resize and it keeps telling me they are over the 200 kb limit. I tried the "contact us" link but never heard back. too bad I really liked this site and wanted to share some of my coins.
