I have been lurking on the forum from time to time but have been busy. Life has been a roller coaster ride for me and I got around to squeezing some time to catalog what I have. Turns out it's a lot more work than I thought.

Recently I have been designing coin albums and preserving a selection of coins with Verdicare. The preservation project is well worth it. Digital coin albums... there isn't just enough time to do everything. Probably a sign to downsize.

Enough talk and here's a couple of links:

Yes, I know I ought to spend more quality time to redesign my site... I've split the coin preservation selection by countries. I've preserved more than what's shown - it just takes time to resize photos and then document them. Trust me, I've been trying to go faster than what I can. I've nearly used one whole bottle (2oz) and probably have to get a couple more. I didn't expect to go through it THAT fast!

The Sadagura preservation and Uighurstan project has been a reasonable success. Many of these coins just don't pop up in the market these days and this is more than a good reason to preserve them.

As of what is coming next, I am planning to focus on preserving Korean Empire coinage and then finish the digital coin album - it has been long overdue. I've already started doing some and many of them have come out to be stunning. Some are better than what's offered in the market these days. They will be photographed and then put into the digital coin album. Not something I want to make another duplicate set out, or rather, impossible to do so. Another interesting thing I have noticed is the die rotation of the early copper (5 fun and 1 fun) and nickel copper coins (1/4 yang) - they are just all over the place!

What is next would be probably China Manchukuo coinage and then Russian coins and then Japanese...? I can dream on I guess.

Anyway enough rambling and enjoy the view!

Thanks for sharing!

I didn't get a chance to see everything (this hotel I'm in has shoddy WiFi) but I like the idea of the digital coin albums. I'd love to be able to do something like that with parts of my collection. And that is a very cool set of Sadagura coins. I have only ever been able to find the 2 Para/3 Kopek ones available. How did you manage to find that overstrike?

With the size of your collection and the meticulous detail of your catalogue, it is no surprise at all that it has taken so much time.
You haven't posted much recently. In a partial way, welcome back to the CCF!

Many thanks DKA and sel.

DKA - 1 para - 3 dengi is a not a rare coin. There's some examples on ebay at the moment. Just wait for the right time and you should be able to get one at a reasonable price. Just have a look at completed listing and you get a rough idea.

The overstruck coin is not common at all - in fact it's rather rare. I guess I have been very lucky at the right time. Still wasn't cheap back then. Only struck in 1795 by Moscow Mint - this was an event that Moscow Mint temporarily reopened to overstrike any old "unusable" coinage. Mintage figures are low and survival rates are not great either. One of those coins where I know I wouldn't be able to upgrade any time soon.

When you get around to redesigning your site, I'd recommend Turn.JS for your albums. Haven't used it myself, but I've been told it's wonderful. And it'd all be hosted on your site, so there'd be no risk to you loosing it.

However, after seeing different parts of your collection, it's gotten me wanting to expand into some of those areas (as if my collection isn't wide-spread enough already!)

Groszy - thanks for the link!

Will give that a shot when I get around to it. Looks exciting and I wouldn't have to use other online sites to publish my content.
