"experts" are citing "speculative liquidation" I have no clue. My guess, if you held a gun to my head, is that it will trade up Mon after such a large decline. Perhaps some "triple witching" hour or some such for futures contracts? http://futures.fxstreet.com/Futures...246666629184Don

Aren't precious metals traded during the weekend on the London market? Zurich? Hong Kong?

If one watches the market this is not uncommon for silver to take a dive on Thursday or Friday. Monday morning will probably bring renewed interest unless heavy selling continues. Basically the more silver that enters the market the more prices will drop. One thing in our favor is, unlike gold, silver actually gets used. That plays on the market as well. Gold, for the most part, will always be with us as it can be reclaimed and usually is!

The market as a whole was in decline going into the weekend. I wouldn't worry for the long term investor it should be fine. Now short term is another story.

Hey ageka, thanks for the charts. Mediccoin, I'm going to have yap my trap on what you said. Precious metals don't pay any interest or dividends...talking about physical metal obviously. Unless you have a precious metals mutual fund that pays out and builds up over the years, a long term investor would have to have a whole in his head to think long term precious metals investing. Hey, I should know! I'm the king of the Kitco silver pools. I made a whole $46.58 on the last run up. LOL!!! Seriously though, I'm just playing around with 200-300 oz more as a hobby than anything. My only goal is not to lose any money. I'm down to 34 oz, so I was inquiring with the thought of buying 100oz now in hopes it will turn back up. Thanks everybody for the comments.

I sold some extra 1999 silver Statehood Quarters for my wife today and was just astounded when my dealer gave her $31 to $38 each for them. That was the price of the whole set, or more, for just each quarter. And to think I had around 20 sets and just couldn't make myself hold on to them past 2000 as I didn't want to lose money? Did the same darn thing with the 2001 silver sets and now look at what the Sacagawea is bringing! Some day you get the bear and some days the bear gets you!

I traded 10 '99 silver proof sets with my son for 10 1/10 ounce GAEs. It was an even swap then but at least it was my son that got the better of me. I sold all my sets, he still has 8 of his original 10 left.
