G'day, the first Oz Penny. I was really impressed - as a small boy - when I found one. I've still got it. With coins of that vintage, you've got to wonder where they've been: Gallipoli ? Mouquet Farm ? And they still circulated up to 1966. Peter in Darwin

I have just started my penny collection. Currently I have about 20, and have a Dansco Album on order to hold my collection.
The penny pictured above looks to be in great shape. Nice coin!

Australian pennies a good to collect because of there size. You can really see the detail under magnification so can weed out any problems.
I have a full set, but some of them are not good grades.
Have a number of spares as well that I use for swaps and giveaways.

That is a lovely example of the oldest Aussie Penny! A wonderful piece in any collection.
My Australian Penny set is coming along nicely. However, I'm still missing several of the more expensive examples such as:
1920 plain 1925 1926 1930 (when I win the Lotto!) 1940 1940 K.G (I've got one of these, but it is such a poor example I don't think it counts.) 1943 1944

Among the coins I received for Christmas was a 1911 Half Penny, in excellent condition.

I enjoyed Phillip's 1911 Penny pictures. Excellent images. However as there was no accompanying text I am confused as to his reason for posting. Phillip, are you just seeking comment on your coin or are looking for information on the mintage , history or etc. etc.. It would help fellow members if you would add a little text with your images. regards,

I think the penny speaks for itself, stirred up a little commotion. At least I enjoyed it!

Looks as though it's a nice coin, at least GOOD EF. If it is a start to your Australian penny collection, then nice start.

Nice coin!, I have a couple 1911 pennies. Are 1923 pennies worth anything? and a 1920 penny with a dot above and below scrolls.
And a 1919 with a dot below.

Spedward, any chance of pictures? Hard to value without a grade. For instance 1923 is valued in Maccas at 75c in very good and $1100 for an uncirculated example.
The 1920 dot above and bellow is most likely worth something, in very good it is valued at $35 and $7250 in unc.
Remember though that catalogue value doesn't mean selling price. Should only be used for insurance purposes and as a guide for buying from dealers. If you look on e-bay, catalogue values don't seem to have any meaning at all.
