What you need Spedward is a copy of Greg McDonald's Australian Coins and Banknotes. All current prices are in his book. You can get a copy from any coin dealer, some bookshops and ebay.

What you have there seems to be a 1920 Dot over top scroll, dot below bottom scroll penny. Has the Indian die(hub 2) obv. These are mentioned as very scarce, but you can usually find 1 listed at any given time. I would grade yours touch better than VG(obverse) better reverse, perhaps about fine. This one would probably sell at auction for Between $20.00 and $30.00, perhaps a bit more. Regardless, would be a welcome addition to many penny sets.

Is ok spedward, grading is difficult, and varies from collector to collector. There are many grading standard guides found on the net and in text, but was sent this quick check guide by a well respected seller. good - no pearls but all lettering etc visible. VGood - 4 pearls with nice reverse. almost Fine - 5 to 6 pearls and partial diamond. Fine - 6 pearls, partial diamond, full lower band gFine - as above with full centre diamond. aVFine - as above with both bands visible VFine - as above with 7th and 8th pearls visible hope this helps. I honestly felt I was being generous on grading yours. Have a look at my penny collection in my galley, has a 1920 double dot there in VG+- aF. Will give you a good reference point, though I'm a pretty SH photographer. It has Point of diamond visible and 6 peals, lower band is not complete, so VG+(maybe closer to Good VG). Yours from what I can see has 5 pearls, no diamond. Good luck getting $50.00 for it, you never know.

oh ok then, well it's in the middle, the coin is almost fine. There is a 5th pearl visible, but no center diamond. So I reckon $50 at the most.
