I was content with collecting coins from the US, had my interests narrowed down to two coin types, and then !!!! I ended up with some low grade German marks !!! These coins have been on my mind for a couple of weeks now while I'm working,I find myself thinking of selling some of my US coins so I can buy some more of these coins in higher grades, My RC Airplane hanger 13 planes is in jeopardy !!! My soap premium glassware collection around 200 pieces is also in trouble!!! I have run through almost all of my other collections, Marbles, Dice ,,, I have even lined up several satudays for overtime at work ,, This is crazy !!! I cant believe it !!!! Anyone else ever been Here ? LOL Rick

The call to the Darkside is strong. Feel the Force MetalMan, feel the force! Wait till you actually SEE what the whole world has to offer and the history that you were NEVER taught! Give in to the Darkside!
Yes, all of us Darksiders have been there and MOST will never go back after opening our eyes to the beauty of the worlds past! It took the introduction of the euro to get me to slip over and after daring to journey I was amazed at what I was missing. Let no boundary hold you! Fly free MetalMan!!!

It happened to me too. I was concentrating on One specific type and the next moment I have an 1800 coin and decide I'll start collecting pre 1900 coins. :)

I think this happen's to everyone. I used to have a very tidy collection. But something come's along and it become's the new desire. So I start that serie's or whatever. I guess it make's sense. Collecting is a passion hobby. Just like people's interest change year after year, about food, relationship's ect. We get tire'd of the same old routine coin's. and look for some action, so to speak

Metalman, if you get so desparate, stop selling your air planes, I might have the answer for you, I think I still have somewhere on one of my lists some low graded, german (Reichs)marks left, maybee, just maybee, instead of loosing your planes, we can work something out ;-)

I just came across a German 10 mark coin in a air tight. It looks to be a special collectors run. I have the same thing from england. A 2lb piece (gold coin) as well as a commemerative 50p piece with the blitz on the back side.
So, ya, these world coins are becoming very interesting to me as well.

wrk4lvg, the german 10 mark piece can be one of manny, I have abouth 40 differend from there, and still look for a few. The gold coin I can't tell you annything abouth, but the 50 pence piece I think will be the 1994 I guess?, then it's not from the blitzkrieg, but from the invasion of normandy (50th anniversery).
Greetings, Carl

Welcome to the Darkside, Metalman. Same thing happened to me, and I recently sold the vast majority of my US stuff (type set almost complete, large cents, etc.) to fund my current obsession with a British Victorian type set. And British Conder tokens, and ...
