So this is going into it's 5th year. I'm just not getting into this shield design. I think a couple of the other designs that were proposed were better. What do you think? Edited by TheForce 03/11/2015 08:12 am

I'm neutral about it. I just like that it is something different.

The design is lame....but so is the denomination so I guess it's appropriate

I hate the new design. I wish they kept the old one. Does anyone have a link to the proposed design changes?

I think it has its weaknesses, but it's a vast improvement over the Memorial cent. I don't need Lincoln AND his memorial on the same coin. I'm glad they brought some symbolic imagery back to US coinage.

I don't mind the newer stile at all. It's nice to see something different every so often. To me, it's much nicer than the prior Lincoln Memorial cents. If it wasn't for the overpowering feeling of nostalgia, it would match the wheat cents for design. One can only like seeing buildings and birds on the rear of coins for so long.

I like the new design, but do not like how they make them. Most earlier memorial cents were made with a higher relief. That is what I miss. I do think that they need an eagle on at least ONE circulating coin. Forgive me if I am forgetting one, but I don't think there are Eagles on any circulating issues...

I personally like it. I didn't dislike the LMC, but T think that a change was due after 50 years. I much prefer the design to the current British 'broken shield' coins!

Change it again for another 5 years. I hate the shield design.

I don't dislike the design. They're really pretty when brand new. However, I would like it a lot more if it was made out of something that didn't rot the moment the humidity picked up.

I actually like the shield design. However, I think the cent needs to be NIFC.

I'd enjoy a return to the IHC reverse.

#2 and #4 looked the best IMO. The shield is fine but I don't like how it's drawn. I find it troubling having such a low relief.

Even better the cent should just be done away with. Nobody wants them, I see them tossed around and on the ground. They are very dirty coins as well. Quote: I actually like the shield design. However, I think the cent needs to be NIFC.

I think the shield design is good. Simple and clean and it works well with the low relief. Probably better than many of the other designs would have. Quote: I much prefer the design to the current British 'broken shield' coins! I believe they are doing away with that next year.
