I've heard that this may be the only year (07) they will stamp the edge of the coins due to the numerous errors. Has anyone heard a similar rumor and is there any validity to this?
Rest in Peace

I definitely have heard this, but nothing "official."

There are a few lawmakers who would like to see the edge inscriptions moved to the reverse and obverse.

I've kept 4 rolls of each president so far. Since the mint mark is on the edge I really don't know what I have unless I open the rolls. If they move it to the obverse and/or reverse, it would make it easier to know what I have.

I've posted this before, I don't know if it was in this forum or another one, but I tracked down the funding bill that contained the amendment forbidding the mint from spending any money to create dollar coins with lettered edges, and found that that amendment has been struck from the legislation. I even posted the links to the legislation on https://www.thomas.gov where it listed it as having been struck from the bill.

So we will see edge letters next year at least.

As an aside the amemdment did NOT remove the lettering from the edge, it just forbid the production of the coins if they HAD lettered edges.
