inacoffeebuzz - You certainly have the standard elements down pat. I would suggest adding a caution about wide rims - molds will often shrink and counterfeiters add a small amount to the diameter at the rim. Diameter should be measured inside - on the die face. Collar seams while possible are usually not seen - look for any irregularities if you see some. Also you should be cautious of the obvious signs of casting - pebbled surfaces or numerous fine raised lines in the field caused by polishing the molds. Lastly I would look for sharp edges on all struck features and especially on the transition between the die faces and the edge reeding. Rounded corners with grinding marks are a dead give away for a forgery.
Finally, don't shop in bazaars or flea markets and don't buy Bargain coins. Deal with people you know and who will still be there if you ever find out you have a fake.
