As you may know I live in the UK but would like to collect US coins, as well as british

Now as the US mint apparently only sells recent bags and rolls of coins it is going to be impossible to get rolls of other coins from banks in america

my other problem is the with UK coins decimalisation means that getting old coins from the bank like in the US will also be impossible as they won't have them, so I am at a loss at the mo, I don't know where to go appart from ebay and coin dealers

has anyone got any advice?

Hi Phillip

It can be difficult but not impossible .

What coins are you looking for ? There is always a chance of developing a trading partner in the US who will send you coins for coins from your area,, it may take some time and cost a little for shipping but it can be done .

The time part comes in developing a relationship and trust required for such an effort ,,but once established its a great thing for both parties !

Perhaps you could trade or buy from others on this forum. What US coins are you interested in?

Well at the moment the series I would like to collect ate

Lincoln Wheats
Dollar Coins (Peace and Morgan mainly)
Barber and Wlaking liberty half dollars

the ones I can easily get hold of are

State Quarters (i have all 44 so far, but need older ones in different mints)
Presidential dollars

I am looking around my area - Surrey - for coin dealers, pawn brokers, antique shops etc...to find coins, not sure what I will find but I love all british coins, especially all the old designs of Britannia.

But british coins are seconded at the mo for me as I would like to collect american coins.

I think looking for coin dealers may not be the way to start off for me, as for one thing, they are all around 20 - 30 miles away from me, although I do know of a collectors makets near me and a few antique shops around here so they might be of help. but trading with someone in the states may a good idea

There are numerous forums here. You could try some of them for trading as already noted.
