I'm using a Sony H2. I have tried taking pictures under regular lighting and using an OTT light. But my pictures doesn't capture the true color of the coin. What can I do to fix this?
Thank you.

Please, post a picture. It could be a white balance issue.

This coin is a light golden color toned.

You need to get the white balance set right on the camera and tilt the coin into the light. I would also take the coin out of the 2X2 to take the image. Very nice coin!

You can definitely see the gold toning now. Well done. If it's more pronounced than that in hand, then you can probably tweak the white balance.
Nice picture.

I like it a lot better! I tilt all my toned coins into the light when I take images. If I don't they come out flat. I put a light at 12 o'clock and 3 o'clock and tilt the coin into the light at 3 o 'clock.

I'll try that. What lighting are you using?

Those are 20W Otts but lighting really don't matter as much as having your white balance set right.

I still haven't figured out how to set the white balance.

Hi Shatsi,
There are not many white balance settings on the H2 (auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent, incandescent and flash).
First, you have to change your camera from Auto to Manual on the dial selector on the top of the camera. Next choose the menu option and then scroll right (or left) till you find the settings I mentioned above. Select one and then exit the menu.
What I discovered with my Sony is that different types of coin materials and finishes likes different types of light but I keep forgetting to write the combinations down and end up going crazy trying to find the right combo (Doh!)
