I notice something underneath the s mm that could be an rpm or s/d. I think I see an image of a D underneath. Someone please help me out.

What you are seeing is something that effected the metal flow during the strike, Look above the S, on the left side. If you follow that part that I am sure you are looking at inside the loop of the S , you can see it extending out the top of the S. The shape of what you see is tantalizing but it does not conform to the shape of a D mintmark.

Additionally, if you look at the surface of the coin between the 6 and the 9 in the picture, you will see more lines that radiate down. That is what you are seeing inside the loop of the S.
