We used to be able to get Washing Soda at the supermarket, but haven't looked for 20 Yrs or more. I'll check next time I go & see if it still exists in Australia.

I've got a 6v / 12v car battery charger - will that do the job?

Well, after much deliberation and a couple glasses of champagne, we found the bravery to switch on the charger that I'd set up many hours earlier but been too terrified to use! In my head, water and electricity just don't mix so getting my head around that took time! :)

The results are interesting, absolutely no consistency whatsoever, seems every coin comes out different to the others. The deeper bright green verdigris is coming off better than the dark green surface stuff. I'll upload photographs later.

Learjet,

I finally remembered to look for Washing Soda at the Supermarket. Woolies have it near the Laundry Detergents, 1KG - $2.99, packaged in a clear plastic bag, looks a bit like a bag of salt crystals. Ingredients - Sodium Carbonate.

The sodium bicarbonate is preferrable since it doesn't release some of the fumes that the other methods use. Glad you found some Nancy!

And can't wait to see the pcitures Parkrat!
