1970-D I Found In A Roll In 1970

I went to the bank in 1970 and got my uncle some rolls the odd thing the hole roll was 70-D's in NY we only get Philly coin normally for his shop when I was home re coping from a gun shot in the shoulder'
its been in my jewelry bow since
what do you think? it a messed with coin or mint damage I have been meaning to post this for a long while

Wow!, thats weird lookin'. Hope you feel better soon from that gun shot wound. Didn't know coin collecting could be so dangerous.

that what I was thinking having it 30+yr I wasn't sure because it came from new roll from the bank

I have never seen anything like this but vice was the first thing that came to mind when I first saw the picture also. That being said I am not saying I am positive that is what happened here but it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw the coin

It surely is damaged. One of the main ways to tell is that the reeding is on the squeezed part of the coin and is deformed. If the planchet was shaped that way before the strike, the reeding would not be there as the coin could not fall into the coining chamber.

but it can from a solid date new roll maybe the coin rollers it was wells fargo did it I think it been 35 yr and I lucky if I remember thing I did today

I Know people that used to pull coins out of circulation during the year they were minted and roll them up. Just because it was a solid date roll doesn't relate it to the mint or a counting company. The fact that this coin was in a solid date roll might or might not have any relevance depending upon where it came from. Just a thought...
