It's a 1 cent coin from Nova Scotia, whihch is now a province of Canada. Back when this coin was issued, "Canada" was a lot smaller (only including Quebec and Ontario) and the other maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island) were all effectively independent colonies, issuing their own coinage.
Looks to be in quite good condition, too, except for the punch-marks on the obverse that give the queen a "hole in the head" appearance.
