Hi all, my name is Kyle Maldonado. I have recently been fascinated by coins and want to start collecting. I bought 2x2 plastic sleeves for my coins, a magnafing glass, and the 2008 Red Book. I made my first mistake on buying coins. I saw a MS66 1921 Morgan silver dollar, and bought it for $25. It was graded by Numismatic Grading Service, later found out to be a bad company. The coin is very very shiny, with very few marks on it (maybe 3 small marks). I found out a MS66 on this coin would be a great find for a $25 investment. But it was graded by a bad company. Have you guys ever heard for a 1921 morgan that high? I am now only going to buy from respected companys.

Yes, PCGS and NGC are the two most respected grading companies. Coins graded by other companies will not sell for as much. But if you got a nice coin in good condition that you like (especially if it wasn't cleaned), then $25 isn't a terrible deal. Heck, even if it's only "really" MS 63 or MS 64 you did OK. If that's the worst deal you ever make, you'll be WAY ahead of the game!

OK, a couple of things. The (known) NGC is Numismatic Guarantee Corporation, not "Grading Service". $25 would be waaaaay too cheap for it to be real.
Can you post pictures of the coin (close ups, reverse and obverse) and a picture showing the slab?

Yes I will post pics once I get my cables back, prolly this thursday. It was graded by Numismataic Grading Service. If it is a MS66, would anyone be willing to trade (I want to get started on a coin collection).

Shiny? Chances are that if it is cleaned, it's worth slightly over melt value. Hopefully you didn't get bitten hard but at 25 dollars, it's not too bad as silver value is relatively high at the moment. By the way, do read the rules of how you can trade here on coincommunity - quoted as "You must be a participating member with at least 50 posts and have been a member for at least 14 days."
Welcome to coincommunity by the way.

Welcome! Would you happen to have a link to the auction? If so, you could just copy the pictures from it and upload to photobucket.com and post them up here. If not, send me the pictures and I'll do it for you. To contact me, click on my name and look on the left side that says "E-mail User: Click to send an E-Mail"

Welcome to the forum! Don't panic, the coin my still actually be very nice even though it's probably not truely MS66. Not saying you did, but....overpaying happens in this hobby. Just make it up by finding some good deals on other coins down the road. It's all good, you'll be fine.
