I thought I'd post this here and let the more experienced determine what this is. I'm leaning towards business strike because of the weak strike on the date and the weak strike also on 'United States' and the Buffalo's head on the reverse. But comparing it to T1 matte proofs, this coin also looks very similar. Thoughts?

A nice one, but a Business Strike in my opinion. The rims are enough; I expect much sharper definition from the rims of a Proof. Even where the rim is close, like behind the buffalo, I expect a clear definition of the border between rim and field.

Long story short....Business Strike

The Matte Proofs can sometimes be very deceiving. However, there are some diagnostics that help them stand out. A lot of it has to do with that they were struck twice.

1. The inner and outer rim is very sharp.
2. All the details and lettering are sharp.
3. They don't have any polishing lines.
4. The main difference is that they have a very finely grained finish.
