I've had this penny but was never really too sure what it's worth...any help?

Looks to me to actually be the zinc core of the cent. I don't think any silver coins were minted at the Denver mint.

The pictures are a bit blurry to evaluate the coin but is that traces of copper near UNITED?

Must be that time of year for plating experiments in school, There must have been questions about a half dozen of these on the various forms in the past week. Usually they only come along about once every week or two.

It's not plated, the copper plating was REMOVED by exposure to an acidic solution.

The coin is cool. I would keep it. Either the copper was removed by some type of acid or it's plated.

However, if it was Silver, imagine how much it would be worth. But it's not so save it anyway.
