Another glorious coin. This was some submission. Strong 64 with brutal luster. Only the slightest weakness at the cotton bolls and talons betray a full strike. I bet those two scratches near the jaw are less evident in different lighting. Quite the coin. This is what we're talking about when we advise to buy "good at the grade." If it came back 65, I don't think I'd argue but 64 is my bet. I see doubling outside the upper part of the ear which is of interest. Have to see if we can VAM it - this may be something I don't know about an existing 1886-P VAM (or have yet found at VAMworld) but that doubling is unknown to me.

This one got what I expected...this is one I threw in there to make sure I had 10 $1's to get the special pricing. However a 65 wouldn't have shocked me either.

Also will have to throw this one over in the VAM section....need to get my scope out in the ear area :)

Seems you had a decent shot at MS-65 with this one. If the grader got it late afternoon it might have gotten that.
