I love this you guys. I just found out that my dad has a BUNCH of old coins and he actually finally showed me yesterday. I didn't get to examine them yet, I was bummed, But he did let me snap a few picks and if I find anything out about any of them being special he said I can examine them and I have been researching like crazy. but it very hard to do without the coins in hand, lol. He has about 20 Ike dollars the oldest is 72 I think but I didn't get a pic of those. also a Mercury dime and a bunch of Gold dollars.

Can't tell you if they're special until I can see all of them.

Morgans are collected by variety, and none have been so exhaustively researched as 1878's. There are more than a few added-value 1878's, even in the circulated condition we see here. You should show your Dad this place.

My dad don't collect coins for value just as saving money, I am the coin collector in the family. He don't think there is a way to sell them or that anyone would want them. That why I am doing all the research and trying to get answers for him.

When you say gold dollars, do you mean the actual gold kind from the 1800s or the modern Indian or Presedential series?

Anyone could sell them at a coin shop at the minimum though he will buy it from you at wholesale. They are worth atleast $5 for the halves and $14 for the dollars if you sold it to a dealer just because they are silver. They are definitly not worth just face value.

@the silver searcher, I mean the sacagawea (if that's the spelling) gold dollars, the ones not solid gold. Do you know if these are of any value, the ones in the post I mean.
