I picked this Cent up today. Are the date and Liberty doubled? It looks different than the rest of the ones I have is why I ask.

what does the reverse show? Any doubling on any letters? Interesting that only the first three digits are affected and not the last one?. Does the bottom or the top of the L in LIBERTY show any doubling? (Above or below the L?)

Thanks Guys! I went and bought the Vol. 1 Cherrypickers, so now I can quantify my perception before bringing these things forward. I see that the doubling is on the east side of the date and very distinct.

Either way, it's still a nice looking cent for $4.

ADDED 11/18: It sure looks different with the Olive Oil removed, check out the hidden toning!

Coop: Nothing out of the ordinary. The L is clean. Interesting point about the last digit seems like it would look the same.

For what it's worth I think Machine Doubling is COOL! (only because that's all I find hehehe)

Unless it's the picture, it seems to have been oiled or laquered. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm not sure if it's been cleaned, however Popeye brings up some memories.

It was definitely cleaned in olive oil. Put it in some acetone to get rid of the shinyness or just leave it alone.

So it's just that easy? I'll think about it...

Do you have some you want to get rid of, if so I am buying? Actually, since I traded GaryLCSr all my wheaties months back...I figure I need to pick up some...so far 09 has been my kick I have been on. I also pick up 31-S and the small dates when I can find decent ones. I am also keeping all my copper I have found that is in XF or better from doing the Coin Project.
